Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Leadville, Colorado, is seeking a tire and mechanical repair technician for our on-site maintenance team.

The role focuses on tire servicing for haul, water, fuel, and other mine vehicles, including diagnosis of tire/wheel issues and basic welding tasks. Ideal candidates have at least 1 year in tire repair or mechanical maintenance, can read schematics, and demonstrate safety-conscious performance.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of tire repair or mechanical repair experience or combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and use schematics.
• Completion of required competencies and pass written assessment where required.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement of tires on mobile equipment (haul trucks, water trucks, fuel trucks, pickups).
• Service tires, diagnose tire and wheel issues, patches, stems, and make tire replacement decisions.
• Perform preventative maintenance including checking tire/wheel condition (tread depth, pressure, temperature).
• May perform basic welding tasks using a cutting torch.
• Operate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, small mobile equipment, and impact guns.
• Maintain work orders, keep a clean safe work area, and conduct inspections.
• May perform hot tire replacement and follow hot tire safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
