Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Shift Manager Operations at the Northshore Mining Company facility in Silver Bay, MN. The role directs and monitors Operations crews in the Fine Crusher & Concentrator or Pellet Plant, providing leadership and supervision to the workforce.

The position requires a strong safety mindset, proven leadership, and the ability to coordinate multi-department projects while driving continuous improvement and meeting productivity goals.

Qualifications

• Requires vocational degree or equivalent work experience.
• Leads operations and maintenance crews with safety focus.
• Ability to implement safety, mine and MSHA rules and policies.
• Strong communication and leadership to direct crews effectively.
• Ability to manage conflicts and build trust across teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and planning tools.
• Capable of coordinating multiple tasks with departments and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Be a safety and environmental champion through meetings and example.
• Coach, direct, and develop operations technicians to meet goals.
• Communicate operational plans and assign tasks to crews.
• Manage personnel: performance, training, scheduling, overtime, meetings.
• Coordinate weekly projects across departments to maximize results.
• Review critical metrics and follow up with employees.
• Report department performance at daily operational meetings.
• Document safety/environment incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure equipment and areas are maintained to standard.
• Prioritize daily break-in work with maintenance leadership.
• Lead business improvement efforts.
