Job summary

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Cortez operation to design, size, and optimize mechanical systems across projects. You will collaborate with consultants and internal teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

The role emphasizes pump and pipeline design, instrumentation and control systems, telemetry, and automation, with a focus on reliable, data-driven improvements. A BS in engineering and strong collaboration skills are required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical, Mining, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with pump system design, pipeline design, and/or industrial process systems preferred.
• Knowledge of project management principles and coordinating projects, contractors, and consultants preferred.
• Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, including monitoring and regulation of temperature, pressure, level, and flow in industrial processes is preferred.
• Experience with calibration, alignment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation such as pressure and flow transmitters; data analysis to improve performance preferred.
• Familiarity with telemetry, automation, and process control systems, including data collection and real-time monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Execute aspects of small- and medium-sized projects: planning, justification, engineering, design, and implementation.
• Develop project cost estimates and forecasts.
• Provide engineering and design input to consultants and contractors.
• Coordinate with internal teams during planning, design, construction, and commissioning of wells and related infrastructure.
• Communicate with Operations, Environmental, Safety, and other stakeholders to meet project objectives.
• Assist with procurement of equipment, materials, and contracts.
• Ensure safety-focused design and construction per standards and requirements.
• Provide technical input for environmental reporting to regulatory bodies.
• Perform pump sizing and selection for booster and downhole pump applications.
• Perform transformer sizing and support electrical equipment requirements for projects.
• Design and size pipelines and related process systems.
• Analyze and report project and operations data to management.
• Support telemetry projects including installation and data output.
• Support automation to improve process monitoring, control, and performance.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to enhance reliability and efficiency.
