Job summary

WSP USA invites motivated students to join the Summer 2027 Mining Engineering Intern program. You will work on practical tasks across geology, mine stability, and materials processing while mentored by senior staff.

The 12-week internship begins May 17, 2027, with locations including Lakewood (CO), St. Louis (MO), and Tucson (AZ). Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate mining program and be 18+ years old.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Mining Engineering or related Undergraduate program with graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Mining Engineering and desire to develop skills for WSP projects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership and mentors to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and tools.
• Authorization to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Mining Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Assist in desktop studies on geology, mine stability, excavation and minerals processing.
• Assist in technical reporting on client resources and reserves for SK-1300 / NI-43-101 / JORC requirements.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
