Job summary

The University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for two full-time, 9-month tenure-track Mining Engineering Assistant Professor positions with a July 1, 2027 start. We seek dynamic educators committed to teaching, research, and service, and to advancing mining knowledge through innovative curricula and externally funded projects.

Successful candidates will mentor students, develop new courses, collaborate across departments, and contribute to accreditation and outreach efforts.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Mining Engineering or closely related field by the start date.
• Experience in mining automation, data analytics, and related digital technologies.
• Strong research record with external funding and peer-reviewed publications.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research and service.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mine design, mining automation, mine safety, ventilation, blasting, and general mining engineering.
• Establish a strong externally funded research program and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Contribute to service, accreditation, and professional outreach, including SME engagement.
