Job summary

The Coteau Properties Company, Freedom Mine near Beulah, North Dakota, is seeking an Electrical Technician to repair and maintain mining electrical equipment, including high voltage switchgear, PLCs, and VFDs.

You will read manuals, perform inspections, troubleshoot AC/DC circuits, and ensure safe operation under MSHA and company safety rules. An associate degree is required; MSHA certification is preferred; must work outdoors in all weather and wear PPE.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in electrical and/or equivalent experience required.
• MSHA certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
• Knowledge of National Electric Code and MSHA regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, electrical prints, and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical inspections on mine equipment and record repairs and findings into inspection books.
• Read parts books and manuals and use basic electrical test instruments.
• Maintain and repair low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems safely.
• Connect, disconnect, and switch high voltage power cables and install/remove cables from circuits.
• Troubleshoot AC and DC circuits and diagnose electrical faults.
• Operate equipment to diagnose problems and test after repair; travel around the mine site.
• Comply with MSHA rules, company safety procedures, and environmental regulations.
