The North American Coal Corporation’s Freedom Mine is actively seeking an experienced electrician to repair electrical mining equipment and facilities, ensuring reliable operation and adherence to MSHA and NEC standards. Applicants should have an associate degree in electrical fields or equivalent experience, with knowledge of high voltage systems, PLCs, and electrical test instruments.
Strong troubleshooting skills and safety mindset are essential for daily field work across the mine

The Freedom Mine is the largest lignite, surface coal mine in the United States with large electric draglines, loading shovels and coal preparation facilities located ten miles north of Beulah, North Dakota and only minutes from Lake Sakakawea. The Freedom Mine has over 40 years of experience providing the fuel our customers need to bring electricity to communities across the country.
Repairs electrical mining equipment and facilities.
An associate’s degree in electrical and/or equivalent experience is required. MSHA Green Card certification or ability to obtain a certification is preferred.
Intermittent: None.
Occasionally (0-1/3 of workday): Lift and/or carry 35 lbs. (tool bags, trail cable, various tools); push and/or pull 84 lbs. (trail cable); grip 65 lbs. (manipulating cable); pinch 15 lbs. (wires and small items); sitting (driving); climbing (ladders and entering/exiting vehicles); and elevated activities (lights and wiring).
Frequently (1/3-2/3 of workday): Hand coordination; standing and walking; bending and reaching; low level activity (cable and electrical boxes).
Continually (2/3-3/3 of workday): None.
NOTE: This position requires ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Employees must be able to safely operate company vehicles/equipment as required.
Employees must be able to work while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety footwear, safety glasses, hard hat, and ear protection.
