Job summary
The Department of Business and Industry’s Division of Industrial Relations in Carson City seeks a Safety Specialist for the Mine Safety and Training Section (MSATS). You will conduct inspections, investigate incidents, deliver essential training, and provide expert consultation to mining operations in the region.
Travel is required, and some evenings or weekends may be needed. Five years of mining safety-related experience, including underground work, are required.
Qualifications
- Five years of technical, operational, or management experience in mines, mills, or smelters.
- At least one year of underground mining experience.
- Ability to write clear, technical reports.
- Ability to deliver safety training and provide guidance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct safety and health inspections of mining operations, including underground and surface sites.
- Investigate mine accidents and recommend preventive actions.
- Deliver formal safety training to miners and operators.
- Provide technical assistance to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Develop and deliver federally required training for miners and responders.
