Job summary

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a Safety and Health (S&H) Specialist at Carlin Operations to join a collaborative mining team. You will work with senior S&H professionals to develop strategies, mentor site teams, and drive corrective actions for workplace safety and health improvements.

The role emphasizes inspections, incident investigations, training, documentation, and cross-divisional collaboration to maintain compliance and promote a safe work environment for all employees.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree and six (6) years' of experience in industry preferred
• Bachelor’s Safety Degree and three (3) years' of experience preferred
• Experience in at least 2 divisions within mining (a year per division) preferred

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical advisor and mentor to the site management team while working with Senior S&H professionals to develop and implement strategies to control immediate risks in the workplace and find solutions to complex S&H problems.
• Participate in internal S&H inspections and audits to identify conditions, behaviors, corrective action implementation/compliance, and/or training related corrective actions and needs.
• Maintain a weekly to monthly overview plan for S&H functions related to their assigned area or division.
• Work with all employees and staff to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and company S&H standards and systems.
• Accompany division management along with MSHA and State inspectors during inspections.
• Assist with health testing and industrial hygiene activities as needed.
