Job summary

Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, is seeking on-site casual labor candidates for a two-weeks-on/two-weeks-off rotation at the Red Dog Mine in Alaska. Join a safety-first culture and contribute to general labor, equipment shadowing, and site operations under supervision.

Reporting to the Senior Advisor of Shareholder Development, you will support cleanup, area organization, and safe job shadowing with mine operators, while adhering to MSHA and company safety policies throughout shifts.

Qualifications

• Commitment to safety and abide by Teck Alaska’s policies.
• New to the Red Dog workforce, have not worked priorly for any Teck or contracting company at the Red Dog Mine.
• Follow and enforce all established Safety and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Perform labor intensive work when required.
• Complete work area safety inspections and Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA) cards as required.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to manage time independently with limited supervision.
• Possess good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform general manual labor duties including but not limited to assisting with cleanup.
• Assist with organization of areas as requested.
• Job shadow Mine Operators utilizing heavy equipment.
• Communicate effectively with other operators, colleagues and supervisor about assigned tasks and ensuring carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog department specific training) and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards.
• Ensures compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required.
• Perform other related duties as required.
