Job summary

Saint-Gobain/CertainTeed seeks a Mine Maintenance Mechanic to perform heavy equipment maintenance, repair, and rebuilds for the Mine Maintenance Department. The role reports to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor and involves installation, maintenance, and efficiency work on HDE, crushing equipment, and support facilities.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting large equipment, welding, and ensuring safety compliance per MSHA policies.

Qualifications

• Must follow safety policies and procedures.
• Must identify hazards on the job site.
• Perform preventive maintenance on mobile equipment and crushing/screening plants.
• Complete daily logs and reports for recordkeeping and audits.
• Troubleshoot and repair large off-road equipment and machinery.
• Demonstrate ability to read service manuals and schematics.

• Use welding machines and torches as needed.
• Operate and care for fuel truck.
• Engage in other duties as assigned.
• Work in a mining environment and lift up to 100 lbs.
• Work in adverse weather and in confined spaces.

Job description

Consistent with World Class Manufacturing, a Mine Maintenance Mechanic provides efficient and disciplined heavy equipment maintenance work for the Mine Maintenance Department. The position reports directly to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor and will be involved with the installation, maintenance, repair, rebuild, and/or replacement of heavy-duty equipment (HDE), crushing equipment, buildings, machinery, operation, and efficiency of the fuel truck, etc. Will be an asset within World Class Manufacturing (WCM) culture, along with practicing WCM techniques and principles.

Essential Duties:

• Maintain safety awareness while operating around mobile equipment

• Follow all company and MSHA safety policies, procedures, and programs; responsible for individual safety and the safety of others

• Must be able to identify hazards on the job site-

• Perform all preventive maintenance related to mobile equipment and crushing, screening plant, including lubricants, antifreeze, grease, and air

• Must complete daily log and reports for recordkeeping and compliance audits

• Must have knowledge of troubleshooting systems on large off-road trucks, dozers, track hoes, etc.

• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of schematics and equipment service manuals. While making minor repairs

• Knowledge and use of welding machines & torches

• Operation and care of fuel truck

• Performs other related duties that contribute to the success of the business and operation as assigned

• Able to work in a Mining Environment

• Able to lift 100lbs

• Work in adverse weather conditions

• Able to crawl under equipment for repairs and enter confined spaces

• Complete SMAT & EMAT audits

• Maintain 5S of areas

• Perform L.O.T.O as required
