Job summary

Teck Resources Limited is seeking a Mine Engineering Co-Op at Red Dog Mine, AK, for an 8-month term beginning May 2027. The role involves supporting mining operations, drilling, blasting, and mine planning under the Senior Mine Engineer’s guidance.

On-site rotations of 4 weeks on-site and 2 weeks off-site apply, with exposure to a variety of engineering and operations tasks in an open-pit mining environment. Candidates enrolled in mining-related degrees preferred.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Mining/Mineral Resource Engineering or possessing equivalent experience is preferred.
• A background in Geotechnical, Geological or Civil Engineering will also be considered.
• Motivated self-starters with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously.
• Comfortable working in a multifaceted industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical and operational personnel.

Responsibilities

• Participation in the health and safety programs of Teck to ensure that everyone on site goes home safe and balanced every day
• Collaborate with engineering and operations for assistance in the development of daily, weekly and monthly mine operations plans
• Work on diverse tasks connected to mine layout and inventing pit and dump arrangements. Build drill & blast strategies, coordinate traditional fleet management, and prioritize production scheduling.
• Contribute to drilling, blasting and surveying activities and provide technical services to the mine production and other mine site departments
• Monitor and perform analyses of operating areas, work with geotechnical evaluations of mine plans and operating procedures
• Perform economic evaluations, efficiency analyses, and assist with capital expenditure documentation
• Develop and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business
