Job summary

State of Nevada's Mine Safety and Training Section in Carson City seeks a Safety Specialist-Boiler to inspect boilers and pressure vessels across surface and underground mines, mills and quarries. You will investigate incidents, provide technical guidance, and develop training materials to promote compliance with safety codes and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, occupational safety and health, construction management, or closely related field with two years of boiler/pressure vessel experience.
• Associate's degree with three years of boiler/pressure vessel experience.
• High school diploma with four years of boiler/pressure vessel experience.
• One year as Safety Representative, Boiler - DIR in Nevada State service to include Commission as NB Inspector; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of boilers, pressure vessels and related equipment to ensure compliance with regulations and codes.
• Investigate boiler- and pressure vessel-related mine incidents and prepare reports.
• Provide technical guidance to mine operators and stakeholders.
• Deliver training and presentations on mine safety practices and boiler safety.
• Identify hazards, issue notices of violation, and recommend abatement actions.
