Job summary

The Missouri Division of Fire Safety / Office of the State Fire Marshal seeks a Senior Safety Inspector for the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Unit. You will schedule inspections, perform calculations, and prepare reports with findings and recommendations.

You will conduct accident investigations, present findings, and ensure compliance with state statutes and regulations, upholding safety and professionalism for Missourians.

Qualifications

• Minimum: graduate of accredited four-year high school, or equivalent with three years of experience in boiler/pressure vessel construction or repair; operating engineer in charge of high-pressure boiler operation; inspector of boilers or pressure vessels; or a valid national board commission.
• If not already possessed, able to obtain Missouri Commission for boiler and pressure vessel within ninety days of employment.
• Additional hours of training in boiler/pressure vessel inspection field are preferable.
• Must possess excellent public relation skills and good moral character.
• Citizen of the United States and physically capable to pass required examinations.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and conduct periodic inspections for boiler and pressure vessels in an assigned geographic area.
• Make necessary engineering calculations and recommendations to correct unsafe conditions.
• Prepare reports of inspection describing conditions observed and recommendations.
• Conduct accident investigations related to boilers and pressure vessels and complete required reports.
• Provide presentations as requested.
