Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Madison’s PEOPLE program seeks a Milwaukee Precollege Advisor to guide college readiness activities for a caseload of students and to serve as site administrator for Academic Centers for Enrichment in Milwaukee Public Schools.

You will collaborate with partners across UW–Madison, Milwaukee Public Schools, and the community to deliver high-impact precollege programming, advise students, and support pathways to postsecondary enrollment.

Qualifications

• At least one year of work experience advising and supporting students in their educational goals.
• At least one year of work experience with a college access program and/or precollege students that provide tutoring and/or other college readiness services.
• Some supervisory/professional leadership experience.
• Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Leads implementation of program policies and oversees day-to-day activities for program staff and volunteers.
• Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs; provides recommendations for improvement.
• Supervises staff, including hiring, training, conduct, and performance management.
• Identifies external partnerships to support the pre-college program.
• Serves as main point of contact to students; informs on educational options and requirements.
• Schedules logistics and resources to support the pre-college program.
• Provides guidance on fields of study, career options, or programs; refers to resources.
• Monitors pre-college program budget spending as needed.
• Researches, develops, and delivers pre-college program content and materials.
• Delivers program content to community members.
