Job summary

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a Milwaukee Precollege Advisor to support the PEOPLE program, advising and facilitating college readiness programming for an assigned caseload through program completion and postsecondary enrollment.

The advisor will also serve as the local site administrator for Academic Centers for Enrichment within Milwaukee Public Schools, supporting partnerships with the Milwaukee community and coordinating logistics, events, and resources under supervision.

Qualifications

• At least one year of work experience advising and supporting students in their educational goals.
• At least one year of work experience with a college access program and/or precollege students that provide tutoring and/or other college readiness services.
• Some supervisory/professional leadership experience.
• Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Leads the implementation of program policies and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
• Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
• Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, training, managing conduct and performance, and approving hours worked
• Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the pre-college program
• Serves as a main point of contact to students and provides information about educational options and academic requirements
• Schedules, secures, and communicates logistics and resources in support of a pre-college program
• Provides support in identifying appropriate fields of study, career options, or programs and refers students to appropriate resources
• May assist with monitoring of pre-college program budget spending
• Researches, develops, and facilitates pre-college program content and materials
• Delivers pre-college program content and materials to community members
