Millwright
Core Group Resources is hiring experienced Millwrights for a large-scale on-site power generation build for a major technology client. Crews will install aeroderivative gas turbines, generators, and the emissions control equipment that supports them, working package by package as foundations are completed.
This is a hands-on installation role covering equipment setting, precision coupling alignment, grouting, preservation, and emissions stack installation. The ideal candidate is a seasoned rotating-equipment millwright who can follow OEM installation procedures, work alongside OEM advisors and engineers, and keep pace on a fast-moving construction schedule.
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and set trailer- and skid-mounted gas turbines and generators
- Align turbine-to-generator couplings using laser and dial-indicator methods, correcting soft foot and accounting for thermal growth
- Set, level, grout, and anchor rotating equipment using hydraulic jacks, sole plates, non-shrink grout, and epoxy anchors
- Torque and track coupling and foundation bolting throughout each installation
- Preserve turbomachinery awaiting startup through rotor barring, space heaters, and desiccant
- Support OEM dry-crank and motoring checks on turbine packages
- Install selective catalytic reduction (SCR) stacks and related mechanical equipment, including work near aqueous ammonia systems
- Rig and signal crane lifts of heavy rotating equipment
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures and API RP 686 machinery installation practices
- Carry out OEM installation work packages with engineers, technicians, and OEM technical advisors
- Coordinate with other crafts to keep lifts, grout pours, and alignment windows on schedule
- Maintain installed equipment and follow standard operating procedures after setting
- Care for millwright tools, hardware, and critical spare parts
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of hands-on millwright, rotating equipment, or industrial machinery installation experience
- Ability to read OEM installation manuals, coupling drawings, and foundation details and apply them in the field
- Ability to work effectively with technicians, engineers, OEM advisors, and other crafts in a fast-paced, high-pressure construction setting
Preferred Requirements
- Experience setting and aligning large rotating machinery such as gas turbines, generators, compressors, or pumps, especially trailer- or skid-mounted aeroderivative units
- Proven laser and dial-indicator alignment skills, including soft-foot correction and hot-running offsets
- Journeyman millwright card, NCCER Millwright, or equivalent rotating-equipment credential
- Working knowledge of API RP 686
- Experience with hydraulic jacks, sole plates, non-shrink grout, and epoxy anchors
- Certified rigger and/or crane signalperson (NCCCO, NCCER, or equivalent)
- Experience preserving idle turbomachinery and assisting with dry-crank/motoring
- Experience around SCR systems, aqueous ammonia, or other power plant emissions equipment
- Comfort taking direction from OEM technical advisors and relaying it to a crew
