Job summary

H & H Sheet Metal Fabricators Inc is seeking a skilled Millwright to install, align, maintain, repair, and dismantle industrial machinery on construction, shutdown, and maintenance projects.

You will read blueprints and P&IDs, perform precision alignment with laser tools and dial indicators, and collaborate with welders, electricians, riggers, and crane operators to keep downtime to a minimum.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of industrial mechanical or millwright experience preferred.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and equipment specifications.
• Experience with rotating equipment maintenance and installation.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Millwright is responsible for the installation, alignment, maintenance, repair, and dismantling of industrial machinery and equipment supporting construction, shutdown, and maintenance projects. This position performs precision mechanical work involving pumps, compressors, conveyors, gearboxes, motors, fans, turbines, and other rotating equipment while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. The Millwright works closely with Foremen, Superintendents, Crane Operators, and other craft personnel to execute projects safely and efficiently.

• Install, align, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery and rotating equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
• Perform precision alignment using laser alignment and dial indicators.
• Install and maintain pumps, motors, compressors, fans, conveyors, agitators, gearboxes, and related equipment.
• Perform bearing replacement, shaft alignment, coupling installation, and mechanical assembly.
• Dismantle and reassemble machinery during plant outages and capital projects.
• Assist with rigging and signaling operations for equipment installation and removal.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, hydraulic tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Perform equipment inspections and document deficiencies.
• Assist with field modifications and fabrication activities as required.
• Work closely with welders, pipefitters, ironworkers, electricians, and crane operators.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and comply with OSHA regulations and customer requirements.
• Travel and work overtime, weekends, and shutdown schedules as required.
• Minimum 3–5 years of industrial mechanical or millwright experience preferred.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and equipment specifications.
• Experience with rotating equipment maintenance and installation.
• Working knowledge of laser alignment, dial indicators, and precision measurement tools.
• Familiarity with rigging practices and lifting procedures.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools and power equipment.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• NCCER Millwright Certification
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction
• Qualified Rigger and Signal Person Certification
• Aerial Lift Certification
• MSHA Certification (if applicable)
• TWIC Card (if required by customer sites).

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, and climb for extended periods.
• Work from ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms.
• Work in confined spaces and varying weather conditions.
• Wear required PPE including hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and fall protection equipment.
• Ability to work ten- to twelve-hour shifts, weekends, and travel assignments.
