Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries in Burney, CA seeks a Millwright / Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair mechanical systems in a large lumber facility. You will troubleshoot hydraulic/pneumatic systems, dismantle and replace parts, fabricate components, and operate welding and cutting equipment to keep production running smoothly.

Ideal candidates have welding, cutting, and hand tool proficiency, plus hydraulics knowledge and prior mill maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• 2 years recent verifiable related work history or equivalent education.
• Proficient in welding, cutting, and using hand tools for repairs.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and bearings.
• Ability to recognize, report, and repair mechanical defects.
• Industrial mill maintenance experience is a plus.
• Boom truck and crane operation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair all mechanical parts and machinery in a manufacturing facility
• Troubleshoot, install, replace, and repair machines and equipment including mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
• Dismantle machinery and equipment, locate cause of malfunctioning or mechanical breakdown, replace parts from stock or fabricate replacement parts as needed
• Fabricate machine components for repairs and improvements of mechanical devices
• Effectively conduct and assess diagnostic tests to ensure optimum system functionality
• Assemble, install, and proactively maintain mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment for efficient operation
• Operate arc welder, cutting torch, hand tools, forklift, and welding truck
• Fabricate, weld, mill, and lathe as needed
• Perform general maintenance in a safe and efficient manner and maintain a clean work area
• Work may consist of various shifts and overtime including weekends and holidays during busy production times
