Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries is seeking a qualified Millwright / Maintenance Technician for our Anderson, California sawmill. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and fabricating replacement parts to keep production running smoothly.

Ideal candidates have 2 years of sawmill or heavy industrial experience, welding/cutting skills, and familiarity with hydraulics, gearboxes, and conveyors.

Qualifications

• 2 years recent verifiable related sawmill/heavy industrial work history or equivalent education.
• Working experience machining on manual mill and lathe.
• Proficient in welding, cutting, and using hand tools for repairs.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and bearings.
• Industrial mill maintenance experience is a plus.
• Boom truck and crane operation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair all mechanical parts and machinery in a manufacturing facility.
• Troubleshoot, install, replace, and repair machines and equipment including mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Dismantle machinery and equipment, locate cause of malfunctioning or mechanical breakdown, replace parts from stock or fabricate replacement parts as needed.
• Fabricate machine components for repairs and improvements of mechanical devices.
• Effectively conduct and assess diagnostic tests to ensure optimum system functionality.
• Assemble, install, and proactively maintain mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment for efficient operation.
• Operate arc welder, cutting torch, hand tools, forklift, and welding truck.
• Fabricate, weld, mill, and lathe as needed.
• Perform general maintenance in a safe and efficient manner and maintain a clean work area.
• Work may consist of various shifts and overtime including weekends and holidays during busy production times.
