Job summary

Collins is seeking a skilled Millwright for our Chester, CA location to maintain and repair manufacturing equipment. You will troubleshoot, install, lubricate, and repair machines, fabricate parts, and read blueprints to support production.

Responsibilities include documenting work, performing inspections, and ensuring safety compliance. Lead duties may apply for senior staff; on-site presence is required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Two years of experience or completion of the Millwright Trainee program.
• Proficient in welding, cutting, fitting, lubrication and troubleshooting equipment and systems.
• Ability to use basic trade tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Must follow all safety rules and pass pre-employment checks.

Job description

The Millwright provides basic operation, maintenance, installation, and operational services for manufacturing systems and equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities*:

• Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards.
• Troubleshoot, install, lubricate, replace, and repair machines and equipment including mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Fabricate parts and assemble machinery as needed.
• Read blueprints, instruction manuals, and schematics.
• Document work order progress using the company’s maintenance tracking system.
• Clean and maintain working areas and equipment.
• Perform startup and shutdown equipment inspections.
• Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
• On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.
• If lead status is awarded, the individual will act as a functional expert and serve as a point of contact in the area of responsibility; assist the supervisor with daily reports and crew member assignments; provide breaks; and provide training. Additionally, based on the needs of the department/supervisor, leads may be required to maintain inventory levels and coordinate work with vendors and contractors.

Position Requirements:

Must meet position requirements to be considered a candidate for this position.

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• Two years of previous experience or successful advancement through the Millwright Trainee program.
• Possess proficient abilities in welding, cutting, fitting, lubrication, troubleshooting equipment and systems, and component maintenance.
• Possess the basic tools related to the trade.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening.

Environmental Conditions:

May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, and variable temperatures and weather conditions.

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

Individuals must be willing to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Positions may require additional PPE at specific times. Examples of PPE which may be required include high visibility garments, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, foot protection, and a face shield.
