Job summary

Collins is seeking a Millwright to provide maintenance, installation, and operational services for our manufacturing systems and equipment at our Kentucky facility. This role emphasizes safety, hands-on trades, and proactive issue resolution.

The position requires reading blueprints, performing preventative maintenance, and collaborating with supervisors. On-site presence is essential for performance and quality, with opportunities for advancement to lead roles as experience grows.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of previous experience preferred.
  • Possess at least one basic ability: welding, cutting, fitting, lubrication, troubleshooting equipment and systems, or component maintenance.
  • Possess the basic tools related to the trade.
  • Must be able to properly read a tape measure.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems is required to be awarded the Millwright III position.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards.
  • Troubleshoot, install, replace, and repair manufacturing systems and equipment by applying skills in welding, hydraulics and pneumatics, blueprints and schematics, machinery alignment and leveling, rigging and lifting, carpentry, plumbing, and machining.
  • Fabricate parts and assemble machinery as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on rolling stock.
  • Detect developing mechanical issues and conduct preventive maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Document work order progress using the company’s maintenance tracking system.
  • On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.
  • If Lead status is awarded, act as a functional expert and serve as a point of contact for the final process; assist the supervisor with daily reports, crew member assignments, and training; maintain inventory levels; coordinate work with vendors and contractors.

Position Summary:

The Millwright provides maintenance, installation, and operational services for manufacturing systems and equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities are dependent on level progression.

  • Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards.
  • Troubleshoot, install, replace, and repair manufacturing systems and equipment by applying skills in:
    • welding/fabricating/fitting;
    • hydraulics and pneumatics;
    • blueprints and schematics;
    • machinery alignment and leveling;
    • rigging/lifting/setting;
    • machinery alignment and leveling;
    • carpentry, plumbing, and machining; and
    • concrete forming/pouring/finishing/layout.
  • Fabricate parts and assemble machinery as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on rolling stock.
  • Detect developing mechanical issues and conduct preventive maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Document work order progress using the company’s maintenance tracking system.
  • Clean and maintain working areas and equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
  • On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.
  • If Lead status is awarded, the individual will act as a functional expert and serve as a point of contact for the final process; assist the supervisor with daily reports, crew member assignments, and training; maintain inventory levels; provide breaks; and coordinate work with vendors and contractors.
Position Requirements:

The following are required to be considered a candidate for the Millwright I position.

  • Two (2) years of previous experience preferred.
  • Possess a minimum of one of the basic abilities: welding, cutting, fitting, lubrication, troubleshooting equipment and systems, or component maintenance.
  • Possess the basic tools related to the trade.

Environmental Conditions:

May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, and variable temperatures and weather conditions.
