Job summary

Aerotek in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Millwright Apprentice to join a growing construction and fabrication team focused on grain handling equipment. You will support experienced millwrights with installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and rigging for local and national customers.

The role involves hands-on mechanical work, travel up to 50%, and exposure to diverse industrial environments with strong long-term growth potential.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a mechanical job such as construction, automotive, maintenance, or skilled trades.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest in mechanical systems and industrial equipment.
• Ability to work from heights up to 100 feet following safety procedures.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% to customer sites.
• Basic experience using hand tools and power tools for mechanical tasks.
• Capability to assist with welding tasks (stick, MIG, TIG) under guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assembling and erecting structural steel and equipment components in plants.
• Interpret shop drawings and align equipment to specifications.
• Perform basic welding tasks as required during installation and repair.
• Help establish lines and elevations for proper placement of equipment.
• Support rigging activities and safe lifting at job sites.
• Participate in precision installation, anchoring, and leveling.
• Assist with troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems.
• Use hand and power tools for assembly and maintenance.
• Support preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Travel to local and out-of-town sites (50/50).
