Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a qualified Millwright for a permanent onsite role in Portland, OR. The position focuses on installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and relocating a wide range of industrial machinery in a heavy steel mill environment.

The candidate will work with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems using a variety of tools to ensure safe and reliable operation. The ideal candidate has journeyman-level millwright experience in heavy industry, reads blueprints, operates

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level millwright experience in heavy industrial environments.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Proficient in setting up, tearing down, and rebuilding a wide range of machinery and equipment.
• Ability to operate mobile and bridge cranes safely.
• Experience with MIG and GMAW welding processes.
• Familiar with Lean principles and Standard Operating Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Repair, troubleshoot, install, and move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, lift trucks, hand and power tools.
• Read and interpret repair documents, blueprints, and drawings to plan tasks.
• Dismantle machines using manual, hydraulic, pneumatic, and precision tools safely.
• Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, bearings, conveyors, and tram rails.
• Construct foundations for machines using wood, cement, and steel.
• Align machines using precision tools and instruments.
• Bolt, weld, or rivet machines to foundations and structures.
• Perform maintenance on cranes to ensure safe operation.
• Repair mobile equipment including rail, rubber‑tire, and track machines.
• Weld and fabricate as needed for installation and repair.
• Document activities using maintenance management system.
