Job summary

Arauco Grayling seeks a skilled Millwright to service and maintain our mill equipment in Michigan. The role involves responding to breakdowns, executing preventive maintenance, and collaborating with operators to keep the mill running safely and efficiently.

Applicants should have a Millwright apprenticeship or equivalent maintenance experience, welding and fabrication skills, and the ability to read mechanical drawings.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a Millwright apprenticeship or equivalent industrial or commercial mechanical maintenance experience.
• Three or more years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience involving bearings, hydraulics, pumps, gearboxes, rotating equipment, equipment installation, and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance practices and lubrication principles.
• Experience performing precision maintenance activities, including shaft and bearing measurements, torqueing procedures, V-belt tensioning, and laser alignment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and hydraulic drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Experience executing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Preferred: Manual machining experience, including operation of conventional lathes, mills, drill presses, and related shop equipment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to mill breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner and work closely with area operators to resolve maintenance issues.
• Prioritize safety as the primary consideration when performing work.
• Investigate root causes of equipment failure and recommend long-term fixes.
• Lead troubleshooting and proper documentation (SAP Notifications) of maintenance items.
• Complete assigned work orders or PM/PD activities based on priority and confirm completion.
• Be aware of maintenance issues throughout the mill or assigned area.
• Collaborate with operational partners, departmental peers, and direct supervisors.

This role is on a shift schedule that rotates every 2 weeks from day to night shift. The hours are 6:45-6:45 and the schedule is 2-2-3 (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off, etc.)

What we are looking for:

Must have a high school diploma or GED

• Completion of a Millwright apprenticeship or equivalent industrial or commercial mechanical maintenance experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through formal millwright training. Strong preference will be given to applicants with three or more years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience involving bearings, hydraulics, pumps, gearboxes, rotating equipment, equipment installation, and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Welding and fabrication experience.

Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance practices and lubrication principles.

• Experience performing precision maintenance activities, including shaft and bearing measurements, torqueing procedures, V-belt tensioning, and laser alignment.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical and hydraulic drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.

Experience executing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

• Post offer, you must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and physical capability assessment.
• Preferred: Manual machining experience, including operation of conventional lathes, mills, drill presses, and related shop equipment used to fabricate, modify, or repair machine components.

In this role, you would:

• Respond to mill breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner and working closely with area operators to resolve maintenance-related issues
• Responsible for taking your safety and the safety of your co-workers as the primary consideration when performing work
• Investigate the root cause of equipment failure and make recommendations for long-term fix
• Lead the troubleshooting and proper documentation (SAP Notifications) of all maintenance-related items
• Complete assigned work orders or other PM/PD activities based on established priority and confirm completed work timely
• Responsible for being aware of maintenance issues throughout the mill or assigned area
• Collaboration is key to Arauco's success. This role requires collaboration with our operational partners, departmental peers, and direct supervisors

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to move freely throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders, and navigating around equipment and machinery.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and crouch as necessary to inspect and maintain equipment.
• Capability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical tasks that involve lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects.
• Endurance to stand and walk for extended periods, often in environments with dust, chemicals, high noise levels and varying temperatures
