Superior Paving Corp. in Northern Virginia and Central Virginia seeks a Milling Foreman to lead daily milling and asphalt paving operations, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

You will supervise field crews, coordinate equipment, traffic control, and material flows, and enforce OSHA and DOT safety standards while upholding our EPIC values. This role requires 5+ years in paving/construction, strong leadership, and a proven ability to read drawings, manage documentation, and maintain

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of paving or construction experience required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of asphalt paving and milling processes.
  • Ability to read, interpret construction drawings, specs, and schedules.
  • Proficiency in project documentation, timekeeping, and digital record-keeping.
  • Valid driver's license.

Description

The Milling Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily milling and asphalt paving operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. This role provides leadership to field crews, manages equipment and material flow, and ensures compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and project specifications.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees all Milling operations to ensure work is executed in full compliance with project plans, specifications, and production targets.
  • Coordinate daily operations, including scheduling, equipment allocation, trucking needs, and material delivery to maintain continuous paving production.
  • Monitors Milling processes to ensure proper depth, grade, compaction, and surface quality.
  • Assist with hands-on tasks when necessary to support production and maintain project schedules.
  • Provides clear direction, coaching, and support to crew members, and leads daily huddles to communicate goals, safety expectations, and operational updates.
  • Oversees training of employees on proper equipment operation, work methods, and Superior’s company standards.
  • Evaluates crew performance and provides feedback to promote skill development and accountability, including administering disciplinary actions when necessary, in accordance with company policies.
  • Creates and submits accurate daily timesheets for the crew, ensuring proper coding, hours worked, and timely entry in accordance with Superior’s requirements.
  • Track daily production quantities, labor hours, equipment usage, and material deliveries; submit accurate daily reports and documentation.
  • Maintains strong communication with all stakeholders, provides timely updates, communicates plan changes, and represents the company professionally.
  • Conduct TPR audits to support compliance, safety, and operational standards.
  • Enforces all company, OSHA, and DOT safety regulations by ensuring proper use of PPE, spotter protocols, traffic-control measures, and equipment safety systems.
  • Completes all required safety documentation accurately and promotes a safety-first culture by leading through example and reinforcing safe work practices across the crew.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • 5+ years of paving or construction experience required; prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of asphalt paving and milling processes, principles, techniques and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a wide range of heavy equipment, hand tools, machinery, and vehicles, with proficiency verifiable through field-based certification.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and fully comprehend construction drawings, specifications, and schedules to ensure accurate execution of project requirements
  • Ability to develop, organize, and maintain accurate project documentation, with computer proficiency for efficient reporting, timekeeping, and other digital record-keeping tasks.
  • Proficiency in mathematics and analytical reasoning.
  • Consistently demonstrate the organization’s core values by striving for excellence, fostering partnership, upholding integrity, and showing commitment.
  • Must maintain constant situational awareness of moving vehicles, heavy machinery, and other hazards inherent to paving and construction operations
  • Must demonstrate effective communication and strong interpersonal skills across all organizational levels, including the ability to communicate professionally with external stakeholders and represent the company in a positive and professional manner.
  • Committed to following Superior’s policies and all safety regulations
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and nights as needed
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must be at least 18 years old
Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds. It also requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods; tolerate noise, vibration, heat, and outdoor conditions common to paving operations; demonstrate the manual dexterity needed to use hand tools and equipment; and maintain good eye-hand coordination, physical fitness, multi-limb coordination, static strength, and balance.

Work is performed outdoors on roadways, construction zones, and active traffic areas, often in hot, cold, or otherwise adverse weather. Employees are regularly exposed to hot asphalt, dust, fumes, loud noise, and vibration from tools and equipment.
