Job summary

Allan Myers, Inc in Virginia is seeking an entry-level civil engineering professional to support paving and heavy civil construction projects. You will help plan, schedule, execute, and control site activities on assigned crews and projects.

In this full-time role, you will work with project teams, interpret plans, ensure work meets requirements, and maintain logs and reports. You will gain hands-on experience while learning CMiC and safety practices that protect the crew and the public.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related major, or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of engineering or construction experience.
  • Microsoft Office proficient.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates and reinforces company culture and leadership practices with team members.
  • Supports crews by developing work plans and work schedules for paving operations to maximize productivity.
  • Has basic knowledge of milling and paving operations.
  • Performs laborer tasks as part of a crew (e.g., pipe, excavation, site cleanup, painting, maintenance).
  • Interprets contract plans and specifications.
  • Ensures work meets requirements and production standards.
  • Documents projects via diary entries, photos, video, inspections, RFIs, reports, and CMiC logs.
  • Develops, reviews, and processes submissions and tracks status through to final approval.
  • Assists in negotiation, pricing, and purchasing of parts, materials, and labor.
  • Helps manage material deliveries and trucking to maximize production and quality; verifies cost code charging and invoicing.
  • Tracks quantities of work performed by company and subcontractors; contributes to billed quantities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports safety initiatives and Home Safe Tonight program.
  • May participate on Safe Production Teams.
  • May assist with Daily Written Work Plans and Work Hazard assessments.

Responsibilities

This full-time entry level engineering position supports a crew(s) or project team(s) in the planning, scheduling, execution, and controlling of site and paving-specific heavy civil construction projects. Has particular focus on maintaining and understanding the safe and efficient paving operations for assigned job site(s). Actions all while working in accordance with company policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Supports a crew(s), project team(s) by developing work plans and work schedules for paving operations and assists to maximize potential crew productivity.
  • Has basic knowledge and understanding of milling and paving operations.
  • Performs laborer tasks as part of a crew which may include: pipe, excavation, site cleanup, painting and maintenance, and other crew work.
  • Interprets contract plans and specifications.
  • Ensures that work performed meets the specified requirements and production.
  • Documents projects through diary entries, photographs, video, inspections, requests for information, reports, and in maintaining various CMiC logs and journals.
  • Develops, reviews, and processes necessary submissions and tracks their status through to final approval.
  • May assist in negotiation, pricing, and purchasing of parts, materials, and labor.
  • Assists in managing and coordinating material deliveries and trucking needs to ensure maximum production and quality on the job. Verifies correc t cost code charging and invoicing.
  • Tracks quantities of worked performed by the company and by subcontractor(s). Provides input into quantities of work to be billed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports the compliance and incorporation of safety initiatives, values, and the Home Safe Tonight program.
  • May participate on Safe Production Teams.
  • May assist with Daily Written Work Plans and Work Hazard assessments as applicable.
