Job summary

Marcus Hotels & Resorts, owner of the Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel, is seeking a part-time Miller Time Pub server for Miller Time Pub & Grill. You will greet guests, learn menu items and beer pairings, take orders, and handle the POS while maintaining a clean, welcoming dining area.

Excellent guest service, a basic knowledge of beverages, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Convenient Lincoln location with hotel-based dining operations.

Qualifications

• Experience serving beverages and food in a fast-paced restaurant.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English.
• Knowledge of liquor regulations and responsible service.
• Friendly, guest-focused attitude.
• Ability to handle cash and process payments.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests promptly and explain Miller Time Pub features and promotions.
• Learn menu items and beer pairings; take orders accurately.
• Input orders into POS and relay to bartender.
• Maintain cleanliness of tables and bar area; assist as needed.
• Replenish beverages and check guest satisfaction during service.
• Present checks and thank guests, inviting return visit.
• Perform general cleaning tasks per supervisor instructions.

Come be a part of history at this Nebraska Landmark! Part of Milwaukee based Marcus Hotels & Resorts, the Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel in downtown Lincoln has been serving Nebraska's capital city for nearly 90 years and has evolved as the benchmark for hospitality.

What will you be doing?

• Greets guests in a timely, friendly, and courteous manner and explains the Beer Program, all specials, promotions, and specific Miller Time Pub and Grill features.
• Must learn all menu items and the ability to understand the pairing of the beer with those menu items.
• Takes orders, reciting selection of all call and premium brands as requested, requires memorization of all available drinks, beer, and taps.
• Inputs orders into Point of Sale system to inform bartender and the HOH of orders that need to be made.
• Maintains cleanliness of Guest tables and assists with the bar area.
• Replenishes beverages as requested, frequently checking back with Guest to inquire about satisfaction.
• Presents the Guest with the check promptly, thanking them and inviting them to return in a friendly demeanor.
• Performs general cleaning tasks, using standard cleaning products as assigned by your supervisor to adhere to health standards.

What you will bring to the role?

• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
• Ability to speak, read, and write the English language to communicate with the guest, take orders, understand the menu, and promote specials.
• Ability to remember, recite, and promote a variety of menu items.
• Ability to transport trays through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout shift.
• Must adhere to all State, Federal, and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to ensure all laws are being followed.
• Maintain a positive attitude throughout shift.
• Work as a team player.
• Ability to remain motivated during busy and slow periods within shift.
• Cash handling and self-banking position, requires ability to maintain funds, and accurately count back change.
• Ability to operate a keyboard and learn Point of Sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check.
