Job summary

General Mills’ Avon Mill is seeking a Mill Utility to support milling operations. The role starts at $24.52 per hour with a $0.50 shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts.

The plant processes flour and Betty Crocker dry mixes, and runs 8-hour shifts from 3 PM–11 PM or 11 PM–7 AM. You will clean, operate, maintain and troubleshoot milling equipment, participate in setup/changeover, and follow HACCP and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical/technical manufacturing experience.
• Experience with WMS SAP/Blue Yonder preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Strong English communication in the workplace.
• Willingness to work in hot, noisy, dusty conditions.

Responsibilities

• Clean, operate, maintain and troubleshoot milling equipment.
• Perform sanitation and cleaning of mill areas.
• Assist the Assistant Miller with processing positions and equipment operation.
• Calibrate processing systems daily to meet specs.
• Participate in startup, changeover, and shutdown activities.
• Support Continuous Improvement initiatives.

More information on scheduling will be provided during the interview process* Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**As part of our manufacturing team, you will:* Be responsible for cleaning, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting milling/process equipment and performing milling processes* Perform sanitation, cleaning and maintaining all areas of mill* Assist the Assistant Miller by providing process system support, including learning the Assistant Miller role and performing processing positions and equipment operation* Execute all required HACCP food safety processes and documentation* Calibrate processing systems daily to meet required specifications* Participate in startup, changeover, and shut down of operating equipment* Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance* Assist in training new employees**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*** Minimum of a high school diploma or GED* Mechanical and/or technical experience in a manufacturing or related industry* Experience in warehouse operations and use of WMS (preferably SAP, Blue Yonder)* Basic computer skills with the ability to use digital tools and systems to complete daily work tasks* Must possess the ability to understand and effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and others in the workplace regarding work matters (our business is generally conducted in English)* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.* Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, push, pull, and twist for extended periods* Willingness to work in hot, cold, noisy, wet, or dusty conditions* Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms* Ability to follow human and food safety, quality, and grooming standards* Ability to wear such as protective clothing and equipment (Personal Protective Equipment -PPE) such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard/bump cap, hair/beard net, gloves, and face masks (when required)* Ability to work around high-speed machinery and food allergens **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*** Manufacturing or production experience
