Job summary

Mennel Milling Company in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Mill Operator to operate and maintain flour mill production processes, ensuring food safety and quality. The role supports daily operations, quality checks, and equipment maintenance on a 12-hour rotating schedule, with weekend and some holiday availability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of flour milling, food production, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to pass a Respirator Fit Test.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Understanding of process flow and manufacturing operations.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet applications, and other computer software.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain flour mill production processes.
• Support food safety, product quality, and operational excellence.
• Coordinate flour transfers according to quality standards and customer specifications.
• Perform quality analyses, food safety checks, sampling, and testing of wheat and water.
• Assist Head Miller/Shift Miller with daily mill operations and changes.
• Perform routine maintenance and assist with equipment repairs.
• Maintain a clean, safe, audit-ready work environment through sanitation and SOP compliance.
• Monitor and adjust wheat cleaning and tempering processes to meet specs.
• Assist in training Mill Utility personnel.
• Perform duties of Head Miller/Shift Miller during their absence.
• Follow GMP, OSHA, HACCP, GFSI, FSMA, and company food safety requirements.
