EMERY SAPP & SONS is seeking an Asphalt Mill Operator to safely operate milling equipment, remove pavement to specified depths, and prepare surfaces for new asphalt. You will coordinate with milling, trucking, and paving crews to keep projects on schedule and within specifications.

The role requires experience with asphalt milling machines, strong mechanical aptitude, understanding of grades and elevations, and the ability to work in a team while maintaining a safe site.

Job description

The Asphalt Mill Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating asphalt milling equipment to remove existing pavement and prepare surfaces for new asphalt placement. This position works closely with milling, trucking, and paving crews to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and according to specifications.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesOperate asphalt milling machines to remove existing pavement at specified depths and widths.Monitor and maintain proper grade, slope, and milling patterns.Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on milling equipment.Inspect and replace milling teeth as needed.Coordinate with truck drivers, ground personnel, and supervisors during milling operations.Maintain a safe work environment by following all company, OSHA, and project safety requirements.Identify and report equipment issues requiring repair.Assist with additional construction activities and labor duties as needed.Maintain accurate production and equipment records.Work efficiently to meet project schedules and production goals.QualificationsPrevious experience operating asphalt milling machines required.Heavy equipment operating experience required.Understanding of asphalt paving operations, grades, and elevations.Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.Valid driver's license required.CDL preferred but not required.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift throughout the workday.Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noise.Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and travel as business needs require.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
