Job summary

Pave America is seeking a skilled Milling Operator to safely and efficiently run asphalt milling machines on roadways, parking lots, and site developments. You will handle setup, operation, and basic maintenance to ensure precise surface removal and prepare surfaces for paving.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of milling or heavy equipment experience, good teamwork, and a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and long hours with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating milling machines or other heavy equipment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
• Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, and travel overnight when needed.
• Ability to read grade stakes, plans, and work orders.

Responsibilities

• Operate milling machines to remove asphalt pavement to specified depth, grade, and slope.
• Set up equipment, including drum selection, grade controls, and conveyor adjustments.
• Perform pre-shift inspections and routine maintenance to ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
• Coordinate with ground crew and foreman for efficient material removal and loading.
• Monitor milling depth, speed, and pattern to meet project specifications.
• Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, traffic, and utilities to prevent incidents.
• Assist with machine cleaning and minor repairs as needed.
• Complete daily equipment logs and inspection reports.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE.
• Assist with other site tasks when equipment is not in operation.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Solid mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting minor equipment issues
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the crew
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred
• Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
• Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area
