Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking an Operations Manager for Longview, WA to lead safety, reliability, quality, and cost in a goal-oriented environment. Reports to the General Manager and drives mill performance and employee engagement.

The role requires a strong engineering background and a track record of reducing costs while improving safety and quality. A Bachelor’s in Engineering is preferred and 10+ years in pulp and paper leadership is ideal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred with 10+ years in pulp and paper leadership.
• Proven ability to lead safety, environmental, quality, production, and cost initiatives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety culture and drive 100% safe operations.
• Manage production performance and cost position.
• Develop leaders and build teamwork across the mill.
• Ensure environmental compliance with applicable laws and standards.
• Support continuous improvement and forecasting/budgeting.
• Interface with union leadership and employees to maintain trust.
