Job summary

Smurfit WestRock in Evadale, TX is seeking a seasoned Department Manager for the Pulp Mill to lead safe, efficient production operations. You will coach supervisors and team members, communicate performance expectations, monitor demand, and drive quality and productivity across the mill.

The role requires a strong track record in pulp or paper mill environments, extensive leadership and coaching skills, and the ability to manage budgets, maintenance planning, and cross-functional collaboration

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years in pulp/paper mill environments with 5+ years in supervision.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and safety-focused mindset required.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and improve KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate safe and efficient production operations in the mill.
• Coach assistant superintendents, shift supervisors, and team members.
• Communicate performance expectations and monitor production demands.
• Supervise machine productivity, quality, and daily personnel management.
• Develop and manage the department budget and plan maintenance.
