Job summary

Rocky Mountain Steel Mills is seeking Mechanical Maintenance Technicians to support maintenance activities in its steel mills. Roles include training toward Boilermaker, Millwright, Pipefitter, and Welder trades, with duties spanning installation, repair, and dismantling of heavy equipment.

Positions range from Trainee to Standard level, requiring an apprenticeship or equivalent, valid driver’s license, and 1–3 years of heavy industry experience.

Qualifications

• Must have strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Able to read and interpret mechanical prints and schematics.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork across shifts.
• Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective mechanical maintenance across the mill.
• Attend and complete training to become skilled in all four crafts (Boilermaker, Millwright, Pipefitter, Welder).
• Work with shop machinery, pumps, valves, and power transmission systems.
• Follow safety procedures, PPE, and LOTO requirements at all times.
• Operate overhead cranes as needed.
