Job summary

ND Paper in Rumford, Maine is seeking a Buyer II - Mill Based to execute day-to-day purchasing decisions that keep mill operations running smoothly. The role works with Operations, Planning, Maintenance and approved suppliers, negotiating pricing and terms within DOA limits while ensuring on-time material availability and compliance with procurement policies.

Requires a Bachelor's in Supply Chain or related field and 1–3 years of purchasing or manufacturing experience; ERP/MRP experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years purchasing or manufacturing experience.
• ERP/MRP experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safety as a core value and lead safe work execution.
• Determine order timing and quantities within defined min/max and inventory targets
• Select suppliers from approved supplier lists for RFPs
• Monitor order confirmations, delivery performance, and material availability
• Coordinate with Purchasing Assistants for PO execution and system accuracy
• Negotiate pricing, delivery timing, and MOQs within approved guardrails
• Communicate demand changes and operational needs to suppliers
• Escalate issues or exceptions beyond authority limits
• Partner with mill operations to understand requirements
• Support short-term operational needs while adhering to procurement strategy
• Identify risks to material availability and escalate
• Operate within procurement policies, DOA limits and contract terms
• Keep documentation for audit and compliance
• Make buying/negotiation decisions within predefined parameters
