Job summary

Nexus Family Healing in Mille Lacs, Onamia, MN, is seeking a Milieu Supervisor to lead a trauma-informed milieu and mentor staff in daily operations. The role focuses on organizing treatment guidance plans and ensuring safety and client well-being within the program.

The position is full-time, onsite with potential after-hours coverage. Requires supervisory experience, a high school diploma, and a valid driver's license; DHS background check and Handle With Care training are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate ratios and safety
  • Plan and schedule trauma-informed daily treatment services and events
  • Ensure staff interact in a calm, therapeutic, trauma-informed manner
  • Mentor and support staff; ensure adherence to guidance plans
  • Coordinate shift documentation and notify leadership and families as needed
  • Participate in treatment planning as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Monitor delivery of services to ensure family inclusion and follow-up

Our Nexus Family Healing agency in Onamia offers trauma-informed, family-centered, nationally recognized treatment for boys, ages 10-19, with significant mental health issues and harmful sexual behaviors. Schedule and Pay:


  • Full Time, onsite opportunity

  • Monday-Friday typically; some nights or weekends if needed

  • Starting Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 a year!

Position Summary

The Milieu Supervisor is responsible to provide trauma-informed milieu leadership and mentorship in the treatment guidance plans through effective communication, organization, and planning of the daily operations of the program and assigned unit.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Prepares assigned staff work schedules in a timely and proactive manner to ensure adequate staff and client ratios, maximization of the treatment processes, and emotional and physical safety of the clients.

  • Assists in the planning and scheduling of trauma-informed daily treatment services such as ensuring transportation needs are met, scheduling of family time and contact, special events, functions, and approved program trips.

  • Ensures that staff are performing their assigned duties and interacting with clients in a calm, therapeutic, and trauma-informed manner while reinforcing program and client related decisions.

  • Contributes to the development of guidance plans and ensures adherence to guidance plans and provides mentoring and support to the assigned direct and indirect team members.

  • Coordinates and ensures that all shift related client and staff documentation is completed in a timely manner using the proper format and ensures all proper notifications are made to leadership, referral agents, and client's families.

  • Participates as a multi-disciplinary team member in developing and implementing client treatment plans and interventions.

  • Monitors the delivery of treatment services to clients for proper follow-through within the program and to ensure family inclusion and communication.

  • Tracks the daily needs of youth related to clothing, dietary needs, court/treatment plan/referral source meetings, family time and contact and ensures plans are in place to meet such needs in a safe and timely manner to include all necessary documentation related to such activities is provided for the effectively management of said activities.

  • Leads the assignment of Youth Care Professionals as youths' \"primary\" staff in working with youth to conduct youth check-ins, youth advocacy, and communicating the youth needs to the staff team.

  • Assists in the review of new applicants and participates in the interview and selection of staff/team members, ensuring they have the ability to work effectively with families and are able to utilize strengths-based, trauma-informed practices.

  • Ensures that new youth care professionals are mentored properly and completes all required shadowing responsibilities.

  • Provides direct floor coverage during staff absences, emergencies and for on-call coverage, as needed, according to program guidelines.

  • Provides on the job coaching, training, and mentoring to staff and leads them in the implementation of individualized responses and interventions, and trauma-informed youth interactions, for a calm, positive and therapeutic environment.

  • Ensures staff timecards are accurately maintained and approved in a timely manner.

  • Provides direct supervision of assigned staff and provide performance management for staff on an ongoing basis. Conduct formal and informal performance evaluations that are timely, constructive, strength-based, and include a development component.


Required Education and Licensure:


  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a related industry.

  • Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience required.

  • Valid driver's license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements

  • Must successfully pass a DHS criminal background check

  • All client facing employees must successfully participate and complete the Handle With Care behavior intervention method exam and training


Preferred Education and Experience:


  • Associate or bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a clinically related field preferred.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with clients and families preferred.

Physical Demands:


  • Required to assist staff in proper restraining of clients.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100+ pounds with assistance.

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours).

  • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, twist, bend, and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within the residential program.

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.
