Job summary

Nexus Family Healing in Minneapolis is hiring a Milieu Supervisor for our 3rd shift at the youth crisis and stabilization center in Hennepin County. The role leads trauma-informed milieu operations, mentors staff, and coordinates daily treatment services to support safe admissions and family involvement.

The position requires two years in the field, at least one year of supervisory experience, a valid driver’s license, and completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years in a related industry.
  • Minimum of one year supervisory experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet driving requirements.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse communities.
  • Must complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention exam and training.
  • Must pass DHS background check.

Responsibilities

  • Develop program procedures for safe, effective services.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary treatment plans.
  • Identify problems and propose solutions.
  • Ensure safe admissions and welcoming milieu for youth and family.
  • Plan trauma-informed daily treatment services.
  • Monitor treatment delivery and family inclusion.
  • Track youth needs and family activities.
  • Interview and hire youth care staff.
  • Provide coaching, training, and scheduling staff.
  • Ensure staff perform duties calmly and trauma-informed.
  • Coordinate shift documentation and on-call coverage.

Nexus Family Healing is looking to hire a Milieu Supervisor to join our newest youth crisis and stabilization center in Hennepin County!

This new youth crisis and stabilization center is a 13-bed, short-term residential service is for Hennepin County youth with complex mental and behavioral health issues looking for appropriate care. The service will help to reduce the number of youth who are stuck in inappropriate care settings such as emergency rooms, police stations, juvenile detention or unstable home situations and provide treatment and therapeutic supports while triage, assessment, and transition planning take place with families.

Pay and Schedule:
  • Full-time 3rd Shift Schedule: 10:00pm-8:30am Wednesday-Saturday
  • Location: 1800 Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis
  • Starting at $50,000-$55,000 annually

Position Summary:

Our Milieu Supervisor is responsible for providing trauma-informed milieu leadership and mentorship in the treatment guidance plans through effective communication, organization, and planning of the daily operations of the program and assigned unit.

Primary responsibilities:
  • Assists in the development of program procedures and systems that contribute to efficient, safe, and effective delivery of treatment services to clients and their families
  • Participates as a multi-disciplinary team member in developing and implementing client treatment plans and interventions
  • Initiates, identifies, and analyzes potential or current problems or risk factors on the program and generates alternative solutions
  • Ensures that new admissions are entering into a safe and welcoming environment and all admission milieu needs of the youth and family are met
  • Assists in the planning and scheduling of trauma-informed daily treatment services
  • Monitors the delivery of treatment services to clients for proper follow-through within the program and to ensure family inclusion and communication
  • Tracks the daily needs of youth related to clothing, dietary needs, court/treatment plan/referral source meetings, family time and contact
  • Interviews and hires new youth care professional staff members
  • Provides on the job coaching, training, and mentoring to staff
  • Prepares assigned staff work schedules and approves staff timecards
  • Ensures that staff are performing their assigned duties and interacting with clients in a calm, therapeutic, and trauma-informed manner
  • Coordinates and ensures that all shift related client and staff documentation is completed
  • Provides direct floor coverage during staff absences, emergencies and for on-call coverage, as needed
Requirements:
Required Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a related industry
  • Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience required
  • Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Nexus Home Office driving requirements
  • Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
  • Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.
  • Successfully participate and complete a three-part Therapeutic Crisis Intervention exam and training
  • Must successfully pass a DHS criminal background check
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a clinically related field preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with clients and families preferred
