Job summary

Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit 5 (IU5) seeks a Migrant Education Recruiter-Student Support Specialist-Parent Involvement Specialist to identify and enroll eligible migrant children and out-of-school youth in line with the state and local site recruitment plan. The role collaborates with schools and service agencies to advocate for students and support parents.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalency.
• Must hold a valid driver's license in the state of residence.

Responsibilities

• Visiting employers, schools, migrant families and agencies for referrals and follow-ups.
• Maintain a working knowledge of Migrant Education Program guidelines and procedures.
• Develop understanding of educational initiatives and services for migrant students.
• Provide instructional support and intervention for students through schools and service agencies.
• Maintain relationships with stakeholders, funding agents, and IU5 staff.
• Advocate for the Migrant Education Program and migrant students with parents, schools, and agencies.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Coordinate summer enrichment activities or collaborate with other agencies as appropriate.
• Interpret and translate for parents, staff and school personnel as needed.
• Encourage and track migrant children from ages 3 through 21 toward school success.
• Assess progress and refer concerns to appropriate agencies.
• Provide regular program updates to the Supervisor of School Improvement Services.
• Involve parents with the program through planning and evaluation.
• Coordinate and facilitate PAC meetings and parent involvement activities.
