Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking a skilled Welder for the 2nd shift in Albemarle, NC area. You will perform MIG welding, operate metalworking machinery, and fabricate parts from blueprints, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.

The role requires reading tape measures, working with grinding tools, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace. Team collaboration and consistent attendance are essential for production success.

Qualifications

• MIG welding experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent technical schooling is required.
• Familiarity with grinding tools, drill presses, and ironwork is advantageous.
• Must be able to read a tape measure to 1/16" increments.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions in English and complete logs/reports in English.

Responsibilities

• MIG Welding: Perform MIG welding to join metal parts, ensuring quality and adherence to specifications.
• Machine operation: Operate metalworking machines such as shears, presses, and grinders to shape metal parts as required.
• Fabrication of metal parts: Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using various hand and power tools, ensuring adherence to specifications.
• Blueprint interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to accurately fabricate metal parts according to the design.
• Production task execution: Follow process sheets, blueprints, or verbal instructions from the supervisor to complete production tasks accurately.
• Material handling: Maneuver large or heavy parts manually or with the assistance of a crane, as required.
• Weld inspection & finishing: Inspect welds throughout the process for quality, using grinding tools as necessary to achieve desired finishes.
• Machine & workspace maintenance: Keep machines and work areas clean and adhere to safety protocols.
• Quality control: Inspect finished work to ensure it meets predetermined tolerances and standards.
• Cross-functional support: Assist in other areas or departments as assigned to meet production needs.
