Qualifications

  • :12+ months MIG welding experience in manufacturing.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics for structural steel fabrication.
  • Proficiency reading tape measures for precise measurements.
  • Hands-on experience with structural steel welding for beams/frames.
  • Grinding to finish welds and surfaces.

Job Title: MIG Welder Structural Steel Fabrication Job Description

This role focuses on welding and fabricating structural steel beams used in frames and bridges within a fast-paced production environment. You will interpret blueprints and schematics, perform MIG welding on various beam components, and use a range of tools and equipment to produce high-quality, structurally sound parts.

Responsibilities
  • Perform MIG welding on structural steel beams used for frames and bridges.

  • Weld edges, connection pieces, and other components onto beams according to specifications.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to understand how to manufacture each part.

  • Operate fabrication machines as needed to assist in producing and shaping parts.

  • Grind welds to achieve smooth, clean, and structurally sound finishes.

  • Use power hoists to safely move and position products and materials.

  • Read measuring tapes accurately and use hand tools on a daily basis to ensure precise measurements and fits.

  • Lift materials and components weighing up to 70 pounds as part of daily duties.

  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in a production environment.

  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and quality standards.

Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 12 months of MIG welding experience in a manufacturing setting.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for structural steel fabrication.

  • Proficiency in reading a tape measure accurately for precise measurements.

  • Hands-on experience with structural steel welding for beams, frames, or similar applications.

  • Ability to perform grinding to finish welds and prepare surfaces.

  • Comfort using power hoists and other material-handling equipment.

  • Capability to lift up to 70 pounds as needed.

  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and their daily use in a fabrication environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with structural steel fabrication processes, including cutting, fitting, and assembly.

  • Comfort working with various fabrication machines to assist with part production.

  • Attention to detail to ensure weld quality and adherence to specifications.

  • Willingness to learn and develop new welding and fabrication skills.

  • Strong work ethic and reliability in a production-focused environment.

Work Environment

This position operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Overtime is scheduled as one hour before the shift at 5:00 a.m. and one hour after until 3:30 p.m., and overtime participation is mandatory. The work takes place in an open bay production environment with a continuous flow of materials and products moving in and out. Because the facility is influenced by outdoor conditions, you should be comfortable working in both colder and warmer temperatures depending on the weather. You will regularly work around structural steel, welding equipment, fabrication machinery, power hoists, and standard hand tools in a busy, production-oriented setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
