Job summary

Sodecia is seeking a MIG Welding Specialist Engineer to develop, validate, and optimize MIG welding processes for high-volume ladder frame production. You will ensure weld quality, achieve cycle times (~25–30 JPH), and comply with AWS/ISO specs while supporting launch and steady-state production.

The role requires hands-on shop floor involvement and close collaboration with design, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to drive process maturity, cost reduction, and robust PPAP documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–10+ years MIG welding experience in automotive structures.
• Strong knowledge of robotic welding systems (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA).
• Expertise in welding HSLA steels and structural components.
• Experience with welding standards (AWS, ISO, OEM specs).

Responsibilities

• Develop and industrialize MIG welding processes for ladder frame assemblies.
• Lead weld feasibility reviews during product design (DFM/DFA for weldability).
• Establish welding standards aligned with OEM specifications (AWS, ISO).
• Collaborate with integrators on welding line design; FAT/SAT validation.
• Define requirements for robotic MIG welding cells and tooling.
• Lead PPAP documentation and monitor KPIs (FPY, cycle time).
• Troubleshoot weld defects and optimize consumables to reduce cost.
