Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing, a leading ESOP-driven automotive supplier in Northlake, TX, seeks a Welding Engineer to develop welding techniques, procedures, and process improvements across GMAW, RSW and DAW.

You'll maintain weld schedules, support line launches, and collaborate with maintenance to ensure weld quality, safety, and productivity while advancing standardization across joining processes for ferrous and nonferrous materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering or equivalent understanding of resistance welding and arc welding principals and standards, as well as mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain existing welding process to Challenge Manufacturing standards.
  • Reduce costs through continuous improvement activities that improve safety, quality and productivity.
  • Define recommended welding spare parts.
  • Develop and maintain weld parameter/setup sheets.
  • Support and lead new line launch verification projects.
  • Work with Maintenance and destruct staff to maintain and improve weld quality.
  • Implement and test and monitor products in production equipment.
  • Develop training documentation on joining processes in relation to customer quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot welding (GMAW, RSW, DAW) issues on production tooling.
  • Develop welding schedules for GMAW, RSW, DAW on ferrous and nonferrous materials.
  • Participate in design reviews for upcoming projects.
  • Interface with new equipment vendors and customers.
