Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Distribution Engineer in Columbus, OH to lead distribution design on overhead and underground utility projects. You will create voltage packages, perform calculations, and ensure compliance with NESC standards while coordinating with project teams.

The role emphasizes detailed design, field inspections, and client communications. AABET-accredited degree with engineering experience is required, with FE or EIT preferred, and a strong emphasis on analytical

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with 3 years of relevant engineering experience, consulting preferred.
Or Bachelor's degree with FE exam and 3 years of relevant experience, consulting preferred.
Or Master's in Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience, consulting preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and prepare distribution voltage packages for overhead and underground projects.
Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, BOMs, and other deliverables.
Perform distribution calculations (cable pulling, voltage drop, pole loading).
Apply knowledge of NESC standards and utility specs.
Conduct field inspections of overhead/underground facilities.
Prepare communications on vegetation management, ROW, and outages.
Develop client presentations and project status visuals.
