Facing History & Ourselves is seeking a Senior Director of Development for the Midwest to lead a multi-state fundraising program and drive revenue growth across individual, institutional, events, and donor engagement. The role requires building and guiding a high-performing team and partnering with the Executive Director to execute regional priorities.

The position emphasizes data-driven decision making, portfolio management, and collaboration with advisory boards, with a hybrid Midwest location

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit development with senior-level revenue responsibility.
• 5+ years of team management experience.
• Experience leading in a matrixed organization with cross-functional coordination.
• Proven fundraising strategy across multiple markets and functions.
• Track record of cultivating and closing 6+ figure gifts.

Responsibilities

• Own the Midwest region development plan aligned with organizational strategy.
• Lead integrated development across states and markets.
• Drive revenue through individual giving, foundations, events, and donor engagement.
• Maintain revenue forecasting, pipelines, and reporting for visibility to goals.
• Collaborate with advisory boards and leadership to advance regional priorities.
• Coach team members and develop staff to build fundraising capabilities.
