The mission of the Christa McAuliffe Charter School is to cultivate within each member of a diverse student body an intense commitment to self and community, the courage and insight to set high standards for academic and personal success, and the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to achieve those standards.
The Christa McAuliffe Charter School (mcauliffecharter.org) is an EL Education (eleducation.org) school for 340 scholars in grades 6-8 with a hands-on curriculum that inspires achievement through active learning, character growth, and teamwork. The school is committed to ensuring that all students grow as learners and as ethical people through meaningful work and a strong community.
McAuliffe is excited to launch an innovative new STEAM program beginning in the 2026-27 school year. Designed as a five-day-a-week course, this program offers students an alternative to World Language study and provides a rigorous, engaging experience across grades 6-8.
Through challenging hands-on learning, students will build skills in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics while developing the critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration needed to solve real-world problems. The program complements our existing foundational technology course - taken by all students for six weeks each year - by offering a deeper and more continuous exploration of STEAM disciplines. We anticipate that this program will attract both academically advanced students with a passion for STEAM and students with skill gaps who are interested in hands-on learning.
Over time, the program will grow to include a range of experiences such as design and engineering challenges, coding, applied mathematics, digital arts and media, environmental science, and robotics. While the full scope will evolve in the coming years, the program’s direction will be shaped both by student needs and by the expertise, passions, and vision of its teacher.
McAuliffe seeks a dynamic and innovative STEAM educator to design and lead this program. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an educator who is passionate about STEAM and energized by the creative challenge of building a program from the ground up—one that will inspire curiosity, empower students, and become a cornerstone of the middle school experience.
