Job summary

Summit School District 104 in Summit, IL is seeking an Interscholastic Sport/Activity Assistant Coach for 2026-2027 to support the Head Coach and Athletic Director. The role provides instruction, supervision, and program support to middle school athletes in a safe, inclusive environment.

Candidates should be passionate about coaching, have strong communication skills, and complete required trainings (concussion protocols, CPR/AED, first aid) within deadlines.

Qualifications

• Requires ISBE Professional Educator License, Substitute Teaching Certificate, or completion of IESA coach education.
• Must complete district- and IESA-mandated trainings (concussion protocols, CPR/AED, first aid, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Support Head Coach in implementing goals and daily program operations.
• Attend preseason meetings and end-of-year awards.
• Assist with instruction during practices, contests, and activities.
• Reinforce skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and safe participation.
• Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after activities and transportation.
• Follow safety procedures and report concerns promptly.
• Assist with equipment distribution, collection, and inventory.
• Verify student-athlete clearance before participation.
• Collaborate with Head Coach to support academic culture and positive environment.
• Communicate with athletes and families through approved channels.
• Maintain student confidentiality and refer eligibility/medical clearance matters to administration.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
