Job summary

SD104 in Summit, Illinois, is seeking an Interscholastic Sport/Activity Head Coach for the 2026-2027 season. The role carries a head coach stipend per the CBA and involves leading a middle school sport or activity with the Athletic Director and assistant coaches to grow the program.

Coaching experience is preferred but not required. Candidates must hold an ISBE Professional Educator License, a Substitute Teaching Certificate, or complete the IESA-approved coach’s education and complete mandated

Qualifications

• Must hold ISBE Professional Educator License or Substitute Teaching Certificate or complete IESA-approved coach’s education.
• Must complete district and IESA-mandated training (concussion protocols, CPR/AED, first aid, and cardiac arrest awareness) within required timelines.

Responsibilities

• Participate in coaching clinics and other professional development activities when available.
• Mentor and collaborate with assistant coaches when appropriate.
• Collaborate with Maintenance Department and Athletic Director on facility needs.
• Inspect home facilities before use and ensure cleanliness after use; set up sport-specific needs for home games.
• Maintain flexibility with practice schedules; be available for five weekly practices including Fridays.
• Hold at least four open gym times before the season (when appropriate and approved).
• Hold a summer camp (additional pay) if approved.
• Conduct practices per district, Athletic Director, and facility schedules (usually until 4:30 p.m. during season).
• Attend required conference and school athletic meetings.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and Athletic Director to uphold a strong academic culture.
• Report scores/statistics to the Athletic Director as directed.
• Communicate with parents, families, and athletes regarding schedules and team information.
• Distribute, collect, and inventory equipment and uniforms.
• Follow all district safety procedures and concussion protocols.
