Job summary

Summit School District 104 in Summit, IL, is seeking an Interscholastic Sport/Activity Head Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. The role oversees the program in collaboration with the Athletic Director and assistants, focusing on coaching middle school athletes with strong organizational and communication skills.

Coaching experience is welcome but not required; candidates must meet licensing/education requirements and complete mandated training within timelines. A stipend is provided per CBA.

Qualifications

• Must hold an ISBE Professional Educator License or Substitute Teaching Certificate or complete IESA-approved coach education.
• Must complete and maintain district and IESA training such as concussion protocols, CPR/AED, first aid, and cardiac arrest awareness.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the interscholastic sport/activity program with the Athletic Director and assistant coaches.
• Attend mandatory preseason meetings and end-of-year awards.
• Mentor and collaborate with assistant coaches; coordinate facility needs with the Maintenance Department and Athletic Director.
• Inspect home facilities and ensure cleanliness; set up sport-specific needs for home games.
• Maintain flexible practice schedules; be available for five weekly practices, including Fridays.
• Communicate schedules and information to parents, families, and athletes; ensure confidentiality where needed.
