Job summary

Columbus Academy is seeking a full-time long-term substitute Middle School Spanish Teacher to begin in Fall 2026 and end in January 2027. The role includes teaching five sections, supervising duties, and collaborating on curriculum with colleagues.

Responsibilities also include communicating with parents about progress, using the LMS, integrating iPads and laptops, and supporting student well-being. Qualifications include a Spanish-focused degree and 3+ years of middle/high school teaching

Middle School Spanish Teacher (Long-Term Substitute)

Columbus Academy seeks a full-time substitute Middle School Spanish Teacher with responsibilities to begin in Fall 2026 and ending in January 2027.

The individual selected for this position will be expected to carry out the following responsibilities:

Teach five sections, which meet regularly but not necessarily daily

Assume a share of supervisory responsibilities expected of all middle school faculty

Collaborate with departmental colleagues on curriculum design and development

Provide periodic updates to parents about student progress via both written reports and in-person conferences

Make use of technological resources, including the school’s online learning management site for classes and integration of iPads and laptops in classroom activities

Hold students accountable for the school’s standards of behavior

Work with others in the school community to support each student's emotional well-being

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will possess the following qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Spanish as a second language or native speakers with a degree in Education

3+ years experience teaching Spanish in middle or high school

Ability to teach introductory and intermediate levels of Spanish

A reflective practitioner committed to a continuous process of self-improvement and lifelong learning

Evident enthusiasm for teaching young language-learners

Physical Conditions

Candidates must be able to manage the following conditions:

Mobility around school buildings and on different floors (handicap accessible)

Periodic need to move light furniture, hang visuals in classroom, carry objects (no more than 40 pounds), etc.
